Clinical linguistics is one of the most relevant interdisciplinary directions connected with medicine and public health. The number of patients with speech disorders and cognitive decline in the population increases annually. At present, there is a trend towards a rapid increase in the number of patients with speech disorders; increasingly younger patients are prone to diseases that provoke speech disorders of varying degrees of severity. According to the World Health Organization, 30% of patients are persons of working age.
The purpose of the project: the development of the linguistic component of personalized medicine for adults and children, the analysis of functional reconstructions of the brain in the event of damage to the zones responsible for cognitive (including speech) functions.
Spheres of research:
1) Diagnosis of vascular, traumatic, autoimmune and genetic pathology of the brain at the clinical stage, assistance in diagnosis and rehabilitation.
2) Diagnosis of vascular, traumatic, autoimmune and genetic pathology of the brain at the "clinical" stage, when the patient still lacks obvious motor, sensory or other disorders.
3) Control of the course (progression, stationary, regressing course) of already existing brain diseases. When solving these problems, reliance in clinical judgments only on the appearance or disappearance of "organic" symptoms is very inaccurate and does not allow for timely correction of treatment. Cognitive functions, including speech, and their violations - the best diagnostic criteria - are not used in routine clinical practice for many reasons, including the absence of protocols for linguistic testing in a neurological clinic.
4) Optimization of the diagnostic process in patients with pain syndromes and alexithymic patients.
5) Diagnosis and correction of speech disorders in children.
