On April 29, 2023, the regional stage of the Open Russian Robotics Championship was held in the Republic of Tatarstan in specializing in teaching programming “School 21”. For the first time in Russia a league RoboCup-at-Home without age limit was held.
Alexandra Dobrokvashina, Artem Apurin, Aidar Zagirov and Bulat Abbyasov, members of the Laboratory of Intelligent Robotics Systems (LIRS) of the Institute of Information Technologies and Intelligent Systems (ITIS) of Kazan Federal University (KFU), took part in the championship and won the first place.
“The task of our competition was to make a robot-waiter,” shared team member Alexandra Dobrokvashina. “In fact, it was necessary to teach the robot to deliver orders with drinks to the specified tables without spilling the drinks and bypassing obstacles along the way. The tables were marked with special markers, distinguishing which the robot had to identify the certain table. Our robot and we have successfully coped with the task: the drinks remained intact and all the tables were served. This competition was a very interesting experience for us, and we hope that we will be able to participate in it many more times.”
