Prof. ALEXEI A. STAROBINSKY – September 23, 2014 – Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Major Research Scientist at the Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics in Moscow, Russia.  His name is related to two major discoveries. In 1973 he calculated emission of particles from the rotating black hole, and in 1979 he developed the first realistic theory of cosmological inflation, which is now the corner stone of cosmology.

Prof. HENRY R. Prof. RYOJI NOYORI – June 29, 2011  - is a Japanese chemist, the President of the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research RIKEN (2003 – 2015),  the Laureate of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2001.  Member of KFU International Academic Council.

Dr. HALIT EREN - October 7, 2010 - Director General of the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), Turkey. Member of the Executive Board and Second Chairman of the Cultural and Solidarity Foundation of East European Turks; Founding Chairman of the Center for Balkan Civilization (BALMED) since 2007; member of UNESCO International Coordination Committee for the Safeguarding of Iraqi Cultural Heritage (2011).

VASILY P. AKSYONOV – September 27, 2007 – an outstanding Russian novelist.  He is known as the author of The Burn, Generations of Winter, The Island of Crimea etc. 

Prof. ROALD Z. SAGDEEV – June 28, 2007 - Russian expert in plasma physics, former Director of the Space Research Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and Academy of Science of the Republic of Tatarstan (AS RT), Distinguished Professor of Physics at the University of Maryland (USA). 

Prof. JEAN- MARIE LEHN - June 16, 2006 - a French chemist, University of Strasbourg (France), the Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry (1987) for his synthesis of cryptands, an early innovator in the field of supramolecular chemistry.  A member of the Reliance Innovation Council which was formed by Reliance Industries Limited.

YEVGENY A. YEVTUSHENKO – December 28, 2005 -  a famous Russian poet, novelist, essayist, dramatist, screenwriter, actor, and editor, and a director of several films. The author of the poem “Kazan University”.

ANDREI A. FURSENKO – November 16, 2004 - Russian politician, scientist and businessman. He was the Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation (2004 – 2012), adviser to RF President Vladimir V. Putin since 2012.

Prof. HOWARD DAVIS -  October 21, 2004  - Professor of Social Theory and Institutions, Head of the School of Social Sciences from 1999-2007, Bangor University (United Kingdom). In conjunction with colleagues in Kazan University, Prof Davis investigated post-Soviet culture in the light of transformations bought about by political change, market processes and globalization.

Prof. ALEXANDER F. ANDREEV - October 21, 2004  - a Russian theoretical physicist known for explaining the eponymous Andreev reflection, Vice-President of Russian Academy of Sciences (1991 – 2013).

JOSEPH VERNER REED, Jr.  – September 21, 1995 -  is an American banker and diplomat, United States Ambassador to Morocco (1981 – 1985), Chief of Protocol of the United States (1989  - 1991), Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Special Representative for Public Affairs (1992 – 1997), Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser (2009).

Prof. ANATOLY P. ALEXANDROV - 1985 - a Soviet and Russian physicist, director of the Kurchatov Institute, academician (from 1953) and president of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1975–1986). 

Honorary Professors

Prof. RASHID SUNYAEV – September 21, 2000 – a famous Russian astrophysicist, member of Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics in Garching, Germany since 1996. Received Heineman Prize in 2003 for outstanding work in astrophysics, Crafoord Prize in 2008 for decisive contributions to high-energy astrophysics and cosmology, Kyoto Prize in 2011 and other notable awards and honors. Prof. Sunyaev is a member of KFU Board of Trustees. 

Prof. ANATOLE ABRAGAM  - May 19, 1994 - a French physicist who wrote The Principles of Nuclear Magnetism and made significant contributions to the field of nuclear magnetic resonance. He was awarded the Lorentz Medal in 1982, the Lomonosov Gold Medal in 1995. Member of the French Academy of Sciences and the President of French Physician Society.

Prof. KARL ALEXANDER MULLER – May 21, 1998 - Swiss physicist who, along with J. Georg Bednorz, was awarded the 1987 Nobel Prize for Physics for their joint discovery of superconductivity in certain substances at higher temperatures than had previously been thought attainable. Emeritus Honorarprofessor of Zurich University (Switzerland). 

Prof. BREBIS BLEANEY  - May 19, 1994 - a British physicist. His main area of research was the use of microwave techniques to study the magnetic properties of solids. Head of the Clarendon Laboratory at the University of Oxford from 1957 to 1977. In 1992, received the International Zavoisky Award "for his contribution to the theory and practice of electron paramagnetic resonance of transition ions in crystals."
