A first-year Master's student in Intelligent Robotics and a member of the Laboratory of Intelligent Robotic Systems (LIRS) of the Institute of Information Technologies and Intelligent Systems (ITIS) (Kazan Federal University (KFU)) Valeriy Myrzin became one of twenty representatives of KFU who won the President of the Russian Federation scholarship.
The scholarship of the President of the Russian Federation is provided to the first year Master’s students who have shown outstanding abilities and high achievements in a certain field of activity, including the fields of arts and sports. Scholarships are paid from September 1 on a monthly basis during the established period of study for education programs for mid-level specialists, Bachelor's, Specialist's and Master's programs, subject to annual confirmation of the right to receive a scholarship in the amount of 20,000 rubles.
In 2022, under the guidance of the Intelligent Robotics Department Professor Evgeni Magid, Valeriy defended his graduation thesis on the topic “Analysis of Image Processing Methods Based on Machine Learning in Human Detection Tasks in Search and Rescue Scenarios” with excellent mark. In 2021, he made an article on the topic of his research: “Visual data processing framework for a skin-based human detection” (co-authors: Tatyana Tsoy, Evgeni Magid, Yang Bai and Mikhail Svinin). The article was presented on the International Collaborative Robotics 2021 conference. The conference proceedings were published in the Q2 journal “Lecture Notes in Computer Science”.
