The Department was established in 2007 and aspires to follow the longstanding traditions of philosophy at Kazan University.
Some of the researchers who contributed significantly to this tradition were D.G. Morozov, M.I. Abdrakhmanov, M.B. Sadykov, B.K. Lebedev, L.L. Tuzov, M.P. Mediantseva, G.A. Shelyvanov, V.N. Komarov, Yu.S. Komarov, R.M.Zhuikova etc.
Nowadays the Department of Social Philosophy continues and develops the approaches and work ethics of the previous generations of academics.
The main spheres of interest for our faculty are: case studies of the social and nature of sociality; mental activity; history of the Medieval Western European philosophy and Russian philosophy of the XIX century; problems of social subject; social philosophy of postmodernism; interaction of culture and civilization; social essence of the language; philosophy of culture; philosophy of history; hermeneutics; aesthetics of the social; social and philosophical aspects of poetics.
