The article systematizes the material on the history of poster art in the Republic of Tatarstan. The author's focus is on the history of the Tatar theatre, seen through the prism of theatrical posters and playbills. The work analyzes 320 sources from various funds: the Theater named after G. Kamal, N. I. Lobachevsky Scientific Library at Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, G. Ibrahimov Institute of Language, Literature and Art at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, and S. Saydashev National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan. The subject of the study is the content, stylistics, and artistic features of the playbill design at different stages of the development of the Tatar theater. It is the first study on the history of the Tatar theater poster art, which has the richest traditions in the book culture of the Tatar people. The article proves that playbills and posters have become a kind of theater symbol, reflecting its complex historical path and the main trends of its development.
