The article describes a little-known historical collection of Tatar recordings, which is stored in the funds of the Berliner Phonogramm-Archiv. These materials were collected by the German researcher Robert Pelissier in 1911-12 during his expedition to the territory of the Upper Prikamye, to the socalled “Zyuzdinsky krai”, which, at that time, was a part of the Glazov county of the Vyatka province. Among his informants were the Udmurts, the Komi-Permyaks, the Russians and the Tatars, inhabiting that distant corner of the Vyatka province. This unique audio material has not been sufficiently investigated and can represent a great interest for researchers, including specialists in the Tatar language and folklore.
Key words: phonographic recordings, wax cylinders, the Berliner Phonogramm Archiv, Tatar folklore, wax cylinders, the Upper Prikamye, Zyuzdinsky krai.
