    Annotation We establish generalizations of the classical Polya–Szego and Makai inequalities which ¨ estimate the torsional rigidity of a convex domain. The main idea of the proof is to apply a new exact isoperimetric inequality for Euclidean moments of a domain with respect to its boundary. This inequality has a wide class of extremal domains and is of independent interest itself.
