Annotation |
The creation of homogeneous low-viscosity emulsions of the oil in water type in using the method of transporting highly viscous oil thus involves the need for high volumes in metal-intensive settling equipment. A reasonable compromise between the attempt to increase the degree of dispersion for stabilization of an emulsion during transfer and the desire to obtain larger precipitated particles during phase separation is required. In view of this an examination is made of the sedimentation characteristics of polydisperse concentrated emulsions, modelling the stratification of a polydisperse concentrated emulsion in a horizontal settling tank, and an analysis given of the calculated dependences of the residual concentration of the disperse phase. |
