Master courses

Specialization of Master's Degree Program
1.     Physics of Magnetic Phenomena
2.     Physics of condensed matter
3.     Quantum radiophysics

1.    Magnetic phenomena physics
One of the first master's degree program at the physics departments of Kazan State University (1996) was physics of magnetic phenomena. The first head of this magistracy was doctor of physics, head of quantum electronics and radio spectroscopy department, honored scientist of Republic of Tatarstan, laureate of Republic of Tatarstan state prize,  professor Teplov M.A.

Nowadays the head of magistracy is the doctor of physics, head of quantum electronics and radio spectroscopy department, honored scientist of Republic of Tatarstan, laureate of Republic of Tatarstan state prize, professor M.S. Tagirov.

Most of all magistracy teachers have scientific degrees of candidate and doctor of science, among them six laureates of Republic of Tatarstan state prize, most of them have been working in the leading universities of Japan, France, German, Holland, Finland and UK for a long time. The lecturer of low temperature physics is the laureate of Russian Federation state prize, laureate of Fritz London prize, professor Bunkov Yu.M. (Grenoble, France).
The main aim of the master's degree program is the preparation of high level specialists in the magnetic resonance field and its applications in: crystal and nanocrystals physics, quantum liquids and superconductors physics, modern materials science.

1.2    Condensed matter physics
One of the first master's degree program in Kazan federal university was "condensed matter physics". The head of this course is a professor of quantum electronics and radio spectroscopy department Eremin Michail Vasil'evich.

Students are given the opportunity to take advanced training as well in experimental profile as in modern development of theoretical concepts in condensed matter physics. Students get the experimenter experience during passing the laboratory courses, special courses, which are devoted to the modern experimental techniques, primarily to spectroscopy methods.
During lectures and seminars on the basic sections of physics the theoretical training is carried out. The magistracy course finishes with the master's thesis defense on research that students obtain during studying at research laboratories at Kazan Federal University, Kazan Physical-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Organic and Physical Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences, and others.
Traditionally, graduated students with the bachelor degree (or specialist), that are interested in research work in quantum electronics, magnetic radio spectroscopy, solid state physics, the synthesis and study of new materials, enter to this program of magistracy degree. After graduating most of masters get to postgraduate studies in Russian and foreign universities, research institutes.

1.3    Quantum radiophysics
Quantum radiophysics masters degree program was created at the quantum electronics and radio spectroscopy department. The aim of this course is to prepare researcher physicists, that have experimental and theoretical skills to study condensed matter by optical spectroscopy and magnetic resonance, principles and approaches to the creation of quantum electronics devices, and their applications in science and engineering. During the study students receive fundamental knowledge of quantum radio physics, condensed matter physics, and knowledge required for applied optical problems, including the development of laser systems for various applications.
The field of professional activity for graduate students are leading research centers and universities.
Graduated students with degree of bachelor, magistracy or specialist in physics can be accepted to this magistracy program. Admission is based on a interview, which is approved with the admission rules of Kazan Federal University. Duration of learning - 2 years.
During the learning such basic courses in theoretical and experimental physics, also special course are studied. Throughout the course students are busy with research work in the laboratories under control of supervisor. Research topics are mainly related to the study of advanced materials by laser spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance, theoretical modeling of static and dynamic properties of the substances on the basis of microscopic models of the electronic structure of materials, finding new media for solid-state lasers, development of new instruments of quantum electronics. Students use the logistical support of magnetic radio spectroscopy and quantum electronics laboratory, femtosecond spectroscopy, physics of strongly correlated electron systems, and the Federal Center for collective use "Physical-chemical studies of substances and materials" Kazan Federal University for educational and research activities. Solving specific scientific problems, student receives the necessary skills to conduct research in various fields of experimental physics.
