Team of LIRS presented a report at the international robotics conference on Climbing and Walking Robots and the Support Technologies for Mobile Machines

Employees and students of the Laboratory of Intelligent Robotic Systems (LIRS) of the Institute of Information Technology and Intelligent Systems (ITIS) KFU took part in the XXIV International Conference Series on Climbing and Walking Robots and the Support Technologies for Mobile Machines, CLAWAR 2021), which runs from 30 August to 1 September 2021. This year, the conference was again held in a remote (virtual) format due to the epidemiological situation. The event is organized by the CLAWAR Association in cooperation with Kwansei Gakuin University (KGU), Takarazuka, Japan.

Ruslan Gabdrakhmanov, a second-year student of the Master's program «Intelligent Robotics», presented a report on the topic:

 «Automatic Generation of Random Step Environment Models for Gazebo Simulator». Authors: Ruslan Gabdrakhmanov, Tatyana Tsoy, Yang Bai, Mikhail Svinin and Evgeni Magid.

The conference program includes three keynote speeches by renowned robotics scientists – Professor Robin Murphy, Professor Claudio Semini, Professor Hajime Asama, and 42 original articles with cutting-edge scientific findings in a wide range of topics related to the rapidly evolving areas of robotics. CLAWAR 2021 enable delegates to exchange research ideas and to establish collaborative networks to advance robotics science and related technologies for the future.

The conference was actively attended by employees of the Laboratory of Intelligent Robotic Systems (LIRS) – Professor Evgeni Magid, Assistant Professor Roman Lavrenov, Research Associate Tatyana Tsoy, Ramil Safin and Alexandra Dobrokvashina, who actively asked questions to the speakers and participated in scientific discussions online. Let us remind that LIRS employees take part in CLAWAR for the second year in a row. In 2020 there were two scientific reports presented.

The students expressed their impressions of their participation in the international conference.

Ruslan Gabdrakhmanov: «This was my first performance at an international conference of such level and an invaluable experience, which quite clearly showed me what I need to work on in my research. I also saw several other presentations that demonstrated interesting and useful research

Alexandra Dobrokvashina: «On the one hand, it's a pity that due to the current epidemiological situation, the conference has to be held in a remote format, but this allows you to participate, physically being at great distances from each other. This time we were able to listen to the report of one of the most eminent professors in the field of robotics - Robin Murphy. It was interesting to consider the problems of search and rescue robotics from a new angle, as well as to learn about rather unusual ways for us to solve problems and test algorithms for robots.»
