Rector Ilshat Gafurov talked about Kazan University at Tatarstan-Japan Business Forum 2018

After signing an agreement with Kanazawa University, the KFU team proceeded to the next event.

The forum was prefaced by greetings from Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan Eiichi Hasegawa, General Consul of Russia in Niigata Mikhail Sergeev, and President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

In his report, Rector Gafurov paid attention to KFU’s cooperation with Japan. In particular, links with Kanazawa University and RIKEN date back to the 1990s. Thanks to those cooperation links, KFU has been recognized by the both countries’ governments for its contributions to bilateral friendship.

He also touched on successful large-scale projects in the petroleum industry with Russian, Cuban, Danish, American and Chinese colleagues. KFU’s Thermal Oil Extraction conference has internationalized and will be held in Turkey in 2019 and in Colombia in 2020. Dr. Gafurov said, “I wanted to draw your attention to this topic because our experience can be used in Japan. For instance, to extract shelf gas hydrates. We know that this problem is a high priority in your country.”

The Rector also invited Japanese businesses to leverage KFU’s expertise while entering Tatarstani and Russian markets.
