Russian Psychological Forum Wrapped Up

October 7th was the last day of the forum’s activities.

The forum consisted of 30 panels and 15 roundtables. Many pertinent topics were touched on at the forum. In particular, many recommendations for psychological education programs were agreed upon. President of the Russian Psychological Society Yury Zinchenko also noted that work on a comprehensive law on psychological help is underway.

Leonid Popov, Chair of the KFU Department of Psychology and Personality, had much praise for the variability of the conference’s agenda but noted that general psychology should also be a subject of a special panel.

Larisa Tsvetkova, Director of the Institute of Psychology of Russian State Pedagogical University, noted that educational psychologists should enjoy the same perks as teachers, since their status and workflow are very similar in a school environment.

Legal psychology was included in the program for the first time, and panel moderator Mikhail Maryin expressed gratitude for that, noting the friendly atmosphere in Kazan.

Aydar Kalimullin, Director of the KFU Institute of Psychology and Education, closed the conference. He reviewed the history of psychological science in Kazan and made a special mention of KFU’s current focus in this science – psychology of education. He emphasized that psychological support of children and youngsters is now an indispensable part of Russian educational system, and Kazan University is a very important part of this system.
