Director of Russian Federal Nuclear Center Toured Kazan University Facilities

The visit occurred on May 11th.

Director Valentin Kostyukov arrived thanks to an invitation from the Government of Tatarstan. This was a follow-up to a previous visit by Tatarstani officials in April.

Today Head of SAU AstroChallenge Oleg Sherstyukov talked about his and his colleagues' work. There are several notable joint projects underway. Among them KFU – Keysight Research Center for UHF equipment research and situational modelling of complex radio communication systems, as well as dielectric and impedance spectroscopy in the UHF spectrum and high-speed processes. Keysight software and databases serve as the backbone of this research. Dr. Kostyukov became very interested in the project because he has faced similar tasks in the past. He offered to involve RFNC into this work, to which Rector Ilshat Gafurov answered, “We are ready to accept this proposal if your institute helms the project”. Hands were shaken to seal this tentative agreement.

Guests from Sarov also walked around to see KFU – National Instruments Lab, KFU – Rohde & Schwarz Research Center, and the labs administered jointly with RIKEN.

Later today Dr. Kostyukov is visiting other universities and meeting with Prime Minister Alexey Pesoshin. The visit will wrap up at the 85th anniversary celebrations of Kazan National Research Technical University, where an agreement between KNRTU and RFNC will be signed.
