Employees of Japanese Embassy Visited Kazan University

The meetings took place on February 25th.

The delegation headed by Head of Mission Ozawa Hitoshi met with KFU’s executives, went to see Quantum Tech Center, KFU-RIKEN Research Center, and Medical Simulation Center.

Vice-Rector Linar Latypov told us that the guests were interested in the progress of cooperation projects. There was also a mention of an upcoming University of Tsukuba delegation visit.

Mr. Ozawa had some words of praise, in particular about cooperation between KFU and RIKEN. It started long ago, and 2008 was marked by an agreement on joint PhD programs in physics. 2012 saw the establishment of KFU-RIKEN Research Center comprising three labs: Femtosecond Spectroscopy Lab, Strongly Correlated Systems Lab, and Thin Film Systems Analysis and Synthesis Lab.

A trilateral memorandum of collaboration was signed by KFU, RIKEN, and Republican Clinical Oncological Hospital in autumn 2014. The memorandum touches upon several areas of joint research in medicine and genomics.

Kazan University also has strong ties with Kanazawa University, Hiroshima University, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, and some other institutions.
