Preliminary Results of the Admissions Campaign Revealed

Application deadline is behind us, full-time students are already admitted.

Secretary of the Admissions Commission Sergey Ionenko shared some statistics.

Admission numbers

Ministry of Education and Science of Russia allocated 5 265 state-funded student seats to KFU, 3 710 of which are in Kazan, 1 555 in Naberezhnye Chelny and Yelabuga. There are 2 120 persons already admitted to Kazan on the state-funded basis. Others (part-time students and masters) will be admitted on August 14th.

47 thousand applications in total were submitted thus providing a competition of about 13 persons per 1 place.

Details of this year's admissions

There were lots of online applications this year from all the 85 federal subjects of Russia. The most students (beside Tatarstan) come from Bashkortostan which has become a tradition recently. There are also much more masters this year.

Unified State Exam results

The average score across all applications is 69. Among already admitted students – 76.22, compared to 74.99 last year. So we see an upward trend, this keeping in mind that results across Tatarstan were slightly lower than last year. If we look at different institutes in particular, there is also growth of the average USE score: 72.5 against 69.3 for the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, 80 against 77.3 for the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies, 76.9 against 73.6 for the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication.

100-point scorers and Olympiad champions

The number of 100-point USE scorers rose 2.5-fold against 2014. In total we have 154 hundred-point scorers and winners of Olympiads including 7 winners and vice-champions of the All-Russian Olympiads.

Overseas students

It's a little early to make assessments here because most of our overseas students are fee-based. Of course, there is growth here as well. We currently have 550 contracts signed with applicants from the CIS countries.

Fee-based instruction

There are more than 3.5 thousand contracts as of now. This is approximately on par with 2014, although, as we’ve mentioned, it's still early to make conclusions.
