Annotation A new approach to the development of a tool to simplify the workflow of a game designer has been presented. The requirements have been elaborated, the work scenario has been developed, and the main parameters for the developed tool have been specified. The main objective of the tool is to speed up and facilitate the selection of suitable game mechanics without the need to spend valuable time on lengthy analysis of other video game projects. To ensure the more efficient work of game designers when selecting game mechanics, various approaches to classifying game mechanics have been analyzed. In this study, various methods of classifying game mechanics have been considered, and their analysis and review have shown which classifications are most suitable for decomposing the game mechanics. The results of this study make it possible to identify key aspects of game mechanics to serve as the foundation for developing the tool. This study is an important stage in the creation of a tool that when are implemented will optimize the game design process and speed up the development of video games.
