The YAlO3:Ho (0.15 at.%) crystal was studied by the method of tunable broadband EPR spectroscopy of the subterahertz range. The measured spectra of holmium ions with a resolved hyperfine structure correspond to resonant transitions between the electron-nuclear sublevels of the ground and first excited singlets of the 5I8 ground multiplet of Ho3+ ions split in the crystal field of Cs symmetry, substituting for Y3+ ions in two magnetically nonequivalent positions. The EPR spectra of Ho3+ - Ho3+ dimers containing the nearest holmium ions in magnetically equivalent positions were also recorded. Within the framework of the exchange charge model, the crystal field parameters were obtained and the Stark splittings, hyperfine structure constants, g-factors of the isolated center and the dimer were calculated, which were compared with the optical spectroscopy data presented in the literature and with the experimental results of the present work. The validity of the theoretical model was verified by calculating the characteristics of the previously studied YAlO3:Tm crystal. |
