Annotation The chapter presents the research findings of the study aimed at identifying the features of the content of teacher training for working in ethno–cultural environment. This content depends on the language policy and geopolitical processes taking place in the world. The effectiveness of teacher training for ethno-cultural education depends on properly constructed bilingual, multicul-tural, civic and patriotic education. The foundation of this training should be a properly formed national-cultural code, the indicators of which are ethno-cultural knowledge, mechanisms of un-derstanding, feelings, behavior, self-realization. Two studies were conducted: “The national-cultural code in the ethnic awareness of participants in the educational process”, “Mankurtism in the ethnic awareness of participants in the educational process”. In the course of these studies, the signs of the ethno-cultural code were identified (ethno-cultural knowledge, understanding of eth-no-cultural meanings, national feelings, ethno-cultural self-realization, ethno-cultural stability and critical thinking). It was determined that in the national (bilingual) regions of Russia, mankurtism (separation from ethnic roots) is a special issue. Mankurtism in Russia is related to the development (or dominance) of the Russian ethno-cultural code. The study shows that this code should not be broken: it fits into the overall strategy of multicultural education in Russia. The results of the study allows to conclude that when preparing to work in an ethno-cultural envi-ronment teachers should become aware of national heroes, understand the positive role of fiction and publicistic works and their characters, develop Russian civic consciousness and patriotism; develop sense of honor for their homeland, their people, self-realization in the national-cultural content; neutralize the negative influence of false information in mass media and Internet portals; develop information literacy and form critical thinking in the conditions of fakes spreading. The multicultural (intercultural) environment in the modern world is being transformed: the degree of use of native languages in Russia and abroad is decreasing. To prepare teachers to work in this changing environment (based on the principles of dialogue of cultures, languages equality, recog-nition of the right to speak and receive education in their native language), it is necessary to re-structure the content and system of teacher training, the content of educational and methodologi-cal materials, taking into account the real facts of ethnogenesis.
