The issue of nonverbal communication as it relates to language culture is covered in this paper. English-American culture
was cited as an example. The author takes into account nonverbal cues like smiling and waving in greetings and goodbyes.
Comparative study on these nonverbal communication methods revealed that, for English-speaking Americans, smiling
is more than just a happy or encouraging emotion; it's a way of life, an essential component of their culture, and akin to
saying «I'm fine.« In contrast to smiling, both cultures value hand gestures. |
