Annotation This article describes modern communication strategies and tactics of creative activity of the Russian television critics. The authors rely on their own observations of the current practice of the Russian media and modern Russian television criticism. Television criticism is considered as one of the components of a person's media education. The research took a period from 01.01.2019 to 30.06.2022. The empirical base of the study consisted of 487 articles by television critics. We have studied the creative works of TV critics of six newspapers and magazines distributed throughout the country, and three radio broadcasts of the federal radio. There is no TV criticism in the regional press. The authors applied the following research methods: a continuous monitoring of printed publications, a thematic analysis of articles containing TV criticism and a comparative analysis of TV critical publications with the task of determining the communicative tactics and strategies of TV critics of studied publications. The authors of the article have revealed the primitivism of the strategy and tactics of modern federal television criticism. There is a fear that the currently used topic of a lack of professionalism of the leading hosts at the main TV channels of the country may soon cease to evoke responses among the audience. The evidence base collected by critics should be deeper and better, less appealing to the feelings, more to the mind of the audience.
