Annotation The first evidence of natural cyclodextrins melting was registered using fast scanning calorimetry with heating rates up to 40000 K s-1. The melting points of α-, β- and γ-cyclodextrin, as well as the fusion enthalpy of γ-cyclodextrin were determined. The activation energies of thermal decomposition of cyclodextrins were obtained using temperature dependence in wide range of heating rates showing correlation with crystal packing density of anhydrous cyclodextrins. The melting enthalpy and entropy of γ-cyclodextrin fit the prediction model what makes this model applicable for a wide range of carbohydrates.
