Annotation |
The paper aims to study the building material's chemical and mineralog-ical composition from Bolgar. The studied sample included 30 stones and 22 cement mortars from 19 objects dating to the 13th–fourteenth centuries. The mineralogical composition was examined by petrographic and X-ray analyses, and the chemical composition was found by emission spectroscopy method. The organic component in cement slurries was identified by qualitative methods and by the determination of nitrogen by mass spectrometry. According to the results, medieval craftsmen used several building bases: dolomite, calcareous tuff, and sandstone. Mortars are different and are represented by lime, dolomite, and high-siliceous (quartz) compositions. No organic components were found in the solutions. |
