Annotation The Oriental Basin is considered to be the youngest multi-ring impact basin on the Moon. The basin age, however, is unknown and its determination is a very difficult problem. In this article we concluded that the Orientale Basin was formed about ~1 Ma during the last bombardment of Moon by galactic comets of the Orion-Cygnus jet stream. To substantiate this conclusion, we used measurements of comet flux density in this jet stream, invoked a new explanation of the giant South Pole–Aitken Basin origin by galactic comets, as well as analyzed the distribution density of large craters in floor of Orientale Basin.
