Annotation A complex of methods, including atomic force microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, are used to study treated by low-temperature corona discharge plasma polyethylene terephthalate films containing small volume amounts of fluorine-based additives. It is determined that small amount of fluorine-containing additives presence leads to the improvement of the electret stability than in films without additives. The enhancement of electret state, changes in chemical composition and structure of the polymer surface is caused by the migration of additives towards the film surface.
