The water-chemical balance is one of the most important criteria for the proper operation of a thermal or nuclear power plant, as well as any local heating system. In order to prolong the service life of power equipment at elevated temperatures and pressures, strict limitations on the ionic composition of the coolant water must be met in order to reduce fouling and corrosion. This requires continuous monitoring of the chemical composition of the process water in closed circuits in power plants or heating systems. The article deals with the development of basic principles and prototypes of devices for monitoring the hardness and flow rate of technical water in power system heat supply structures. The proposed approaches are based on the electrochemical principle according to which process water is an electrolyte with certain chemical composition and electrical conductivity. Based on this principle, new methods and measuring devices are developed to determine the hardness of service water in heat supply systems by means of continuous measurement of metal ion concentration and electric conductivity of water electrolyte; new method and measuring device for precision determination of water flow rate in closed water heating cycles. |
