Annotation With the acceleration of the processes of globalisation and migration, there is an exacerbation of cultural contradictions, which can be resolved by the development of the multiculturalism. The purpose of this study is to analyse modern scientific approaches to understanding the essence of multicultural education of autochthons, immigrants and foreign students, to determine the specific weight of these three subgroups in the structure of the multicultural educational process, as well as to assess the real state and prospects of ensuring the development of the latter in Russia. Two main methods were used - building a model of an integrative multicultural educational process and the 2019 RPORC (Russian Public Opinion Research Centre) survey “Higher education: in Russia or abroad?”. The authors also used the method of conducting a survey based on obtaining data using a telephone interview on a special stratified two-base random sample of mobile and landline telephone numbers with a total volume of at least 1600 respondents. The authors used data from the VPO-1 2019 form of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation. Based on the Pareto Optimality principle, a model of an integrative multicultural educational process has been developed. The effective implementation of the educational needs of all students in society reaches a maximum, and the development of skills for effective interaction with representatives of different cultures becomes optimal under the following conditions. Analysis of the survey data showed that for the majority of Russians it is not important whether their children/grandchildren will receive higher education abroad - 78%. Russian society has a tolerant attitude towards domestic and world educational systems. The practical application of the research results is possible with the improvement of training programs, the exchange of international experience and further research into the problems of the development of multicultural education.
