The time has come for a comprehensive reflection on what has hap- pened in the global language learning due to the coronavirus pandemic. As well as forecasts of dramatic changes in it in the near future and in the future. Why is it so important to get acquainted with the «force majeure« cases of universities and educational organizations of different countries and discuss them? The pandemic has progressed so rapidly and so unprecedented eve- rywhere that no one has had the opportunity to draw on anyone's experience to overcome the challenges of self-isolation. It's just that such an experience has not yet been in nature. Universities of different countries, regions and cit- ies had to make decisions at their own peril and risk. Today we see that in some ways they surprisingly coincided, in some they were opposite. Universi- ties are still not sure of some of their decisions and actions. Therefore, it is necessary to compare and analyze the world experience at least in order to establish itself in our own responses to the challenges of the global crisis or to urgently correct them. Moreover, the general victory over COVID-19 is still a long way off, and new problems continue to manifest themselves in the field of higher education. In addition, public discourse on this topic is a kind of so- cial construction, in the process of which possible scenarios for the future of higher education are born. These scenarios can become strategies for real actions of both individual universities and the world university system as a whole. |
