A literary text is a rich source of sustainable linguistic units, including phraseological ones. This
article focuseson various transformations of phraseological units that take place in literary translations from Tatar
into Turkish. Translating these units even from one cognate language to another is of great importance. The article
aims to study various aspects of the transformation of phraseological units. The main approach adopted in this
study to explore this topic is the systematization and description of available information, its analysis, followed
by its explanation and comparison, which, finally, makes it possible to identify translation transformations. This
study highlights the importance of translating the source information by the translator, as well as the need to
comply with the translation principles for all languages and for all types of translated material. Analysis of these
questions allowed us to better perceive the differences between the two languages in relation to the following
topics: type of words, use of articles and prepositions, times and verbal modes, and terminology specific to
translation theory and practice. The materials of this paper can be of use to researchers working on the Tatar and
Turkish languages, philology specialists, lecturers and academicians.
