dc.description.abstract |
The geochemical features of rocks from the Usolka section, which has been proposed as an
international standard for global correlation of the lower boundaries of the Kasimovian and
Gzhelian Stages, has been considered. The tectonic setting of the drift sources was
corresponded to the passive continental margin. Based on the analysis of chemical weathering
indices, it was shown that the climate in the Late Carboniferous was transitioning from humid
to arid, with rocks being characterized by a low degree of chemical weathering.
Anomalously low values of stable isotopes that are not associated with diagenetic changes
in the rocks were confirmed. |
