Annotation The article focuses on the environmental and biological prerequisites for the hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome morbidity among the population of the city of Naberezhnye Chelny and the municipal district which are located in the north-eastern part of the Republic of Tatarstan, a subdivision of Russian Federation. The territory of Tatarstan constitutes part of the Volga federal district and is located in coniferous taiga and mixed forest, forest-steppe and steppe geographical areas. Large forests as well as weather and climatic conditions play an important role in the activity and frequency of the natural focal viral infection, the virus carriers of which are mouse-like rodents. The virus belongs to the family Bunyaviridae and is a type of the genus Hantavirus. The analyses based on the epidemiological and clinical data of State Healthcare Institution “Naberezhnye Chelny Infectious Diseases Hospital” shows the long-term and seasonal hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome sickness rate from 2008 to 2012 and takes into account the patients' age and gender. The analysis proves the seasonal nature of this infectious disease and its changing frequency in the long-term dynamics. The majority of cases were observed in the summer-autumn period. 84,32 % of all disease cases occurred among male population, adults' share averagely 28 times exceeding infants' one, which is due to the fact that the former frequently were in the foci of the virus circulation. In the long-term dynamics the fever development is indirectly connected with the climate and weather conditions of the whole region that influence the biology and dynamics of rodents' population. An anomalously hot summer of 2010 led to a significant reduction in the number of the disease cases among the human population of the area.
