Mutations in dysferlin gene lead to dysferlinopathy which is relatively prevalent muscular dystrophy. This disease results in gradual skeletal muscle degeneration primarily in calf muscles in the lower limbs. Two main clinical
phenotypes exist: limb girdle muscular dystrophy type 2B and Miyoshi myopathy. There is no eff ective treatment for
these diseases yet. We use spliceosome-mediated RNA trans-splicing (SMaRT) and CRISPR/Cas9 technologies to correct mutation in DYSF gene. |
