Mulussa F formation constitutes the main part of Upper Triassic deposits in
Euphrates Graben. The deeply petrological study of various sediments formation
showed that sediments are composed of detrital components as sedimentary
members or units forming repeated or harmonic alternations composed of layers
whose facies gradients reflect transgression and regression sequences, where the
correlation of these sediments led to show their differences and to deduce the
distribution patterns with time and place. And thus the study of this formation at
area of study enabled to determine the sedimentary and Palaeogeography
evolution. The conclusion attained proposed continuous slow periodic sedimentation in a sedimentary basin having variable bathymetry and geometry, controlled by
fluctuations in water sea level and meteorological changes besides gradual
subsidence. These sediments probably deposited in a sedimentary environment
that swing between open marine medium and shallow costal environment with
alternating continental and marine conditions. The sediments represent thin
barriers near river mouth with curling waterway channels and limited deltaic
deposits, locally floating and laterally thinning. |
