The paper substantiates the development of Internet linguistics as a recent direction in linguistics, in the center of
which is Internet-discourse. Among the genre variety of Internet discourse stands out the genre of online comments
to news articles. On the material of comments, one of the forms of speech behavior in the Internet discourse? trolling
is analyzed. Depending on the communicative intention of the troll, four types of trolls are distinguished in the
comments: provocateur, demagogue, off topper and elf. Their specific communicative tactics and features of speech
communication are described. Among four types, the troll provocateur prompts for communicative interaction explicitly,
resorting to numerous tactics of speech behavior: disagreement, re-asking, insulting, ridiculing, questioning,
ignoring. It is noted that one troll can simultaneously demonstrate different strategies of communicative behavior.
