Annotation Prohibitive folk omens serve as a kind of «talisman« in key situations and contribute to the prevention of undesirable consequences. statistical analysis of the paremiological material has allowed to establish that folk omens with the meaning of prohibition is 12 %. analyzing folk omens in terms of the prohibition, we found that semantic structure includes the forecast future-oriented semantic. From the structure point of view, signs of this type can be divided into well-reasoned and unreasoned ones. the presence / absence of arguments explaining the need to abandon the execution of a particular action, is, in a sense, the «indicator« of the degree of prohibition. the semantics of a prohibition is implemented in the syntactic structures of explicit and implicit types. an explicit form is determined by a high / low degree of illocutionary force of prohibition.
