Annotation |
Nowadays reading is one of the main skills that students must acquire in the process of learning a foreign language. It is essential to emphasize that through reading in a foreign language students enrich their knowledge of the world around them, develop their memory, imagination and penetrate into the culture of the studied language. The more the students read, the better they know not only semantic and syntactic features of the target language, but the linguistic material in general. The article deals with the description of the experimental work aimed at the use of the effective ways of teaching communicative competencies to the full-time and part-time first-year students learning foreign languages at the language department by means of the novel «The Moon and Sixpence«, written by the prominent English writer William Somerset Maugham. It is worth pointing out that working with authentic books facilitates unaided practice in further reading ability, which is not only of great pract |
