dc.description.abstract	Social status is closely connected with the range of foods consumed, both in ancient and in modern times. The main indicators of social status are diet and the quality of food products. In addition, the availability of products from remote regions can be used as an indicator of status. Basing on this issue, our study analyses the species composition of fish, consumed by inhabitants of the medieval Bilyar.
