Annotation

Here we represent the results of research into structural peculiarities of phraseological unit (PU) definitions in big number of English and Russian unilingual dictionaries and statistic analysis of different types of definitions use in. The paper also proves that utilizing each type of definition is dependant on some properties of the head-phrase. Bilingual dictionaries are encompassed by the part of the research, where the main goal is distinguishing the types of definition. It is well-known that the main element of phraseological dictionary entry is the definition ? explanation or description of the meaning of the head-phrase.
