dc.description.abstract	The article analyzes a phenomenon of national mentality. The authors note that this phenomenon is developed mainly within psychology and cultural anthropology and they emphasize that it is necessary to work out a philosophical approach to comprehend it. Collectivity, unity of conscious and unconscious, stability, conservatism can be considered as basic characteristics of mentality (including the national one). On the other hand stability and permanence should not be seen in absolute terms, as mentality derived from history and culture. If the existing social context changes to one extent or another, it ultimately results in change of mentality. Due to the thesis proposed the antithesis ?We ? others? is the main factor of national mentality development and functioning. It is stated that the concept ?mentality? is much-in-demand when modern reality of Russia and the former Soviet Union countries is comprehended primarily because they are multicultural and multiethnic.	ru_RU
