Annotation |
We experimentally demonstrate the transformation of a single photon field into bunches of pulses.
This transformation is produced by transmission of a photon through a thick single-resonance-line
absorber vibrating with a frequency, which is much larger than the width of the absorption line.
The spectrum of the quasi-monochromatic incoming photon is 'seen' by the vibrating absorber as a
comb of equidistant spectral components separated by the vibration frequency. Tuning the absorber
in resonance with the m-th spectral component (m is integer) transforms the output radiation into
bunches of pulses with m pulses in each bunch. Bunches are separated by periods equal to the
bunch duration. Such a photon shaping could open a way to produce time-bin qubits. |
