New building launched for KFU Institute of Naberezhnye Chelny

KFU Institute of Naberezhnye Chelny launched a new building for the Department of Humanities and Social Studies at the ex-library of KAMAZ, Nail Magdeev, Head of Naberezhnye Chelny Executive Board, Ilshat Gafurov, Rector of Kazan Federal University, and Makhmut Ganiev, Director of Naberezhnye Chelny Institute, snipping the ribbon.

Kama State Academy of Engineering and Economics (INEKA) integrated with Kazan University in 2012 and merged with KFU Naberezhnye Chelny Institute. The new organized department of Hymanities and Social Studies embodied the former Department of Humanities of KFU, Faculty of Philology and Journalism.

Nail Magdeev emphasized the significance of the Department of Humanities and Social Studies for the prosperity of the city and country in general: “Life cannot move on without humanities and social studies. In the present day world of information we need experts in languages, communications, culture and traditions. Thus, the Rector and his team are headed in the right direction supporting humanities education”.

“The future of humanities and social studies has a new address today. It will enable students to learn and master the skills that are needed every day in the sphere of humanities and social studies.  The new building demonstrates how Kazan Federal Universities will continue to be at the forefront of humanities and social education”, said Ilshat Gafurov.

The reconstruction of the building previously occupied by KAMAZ library started in March 2014. This new facility for the university is another in a series of important steps forward to develop the infrastructure of remote institutes and make it similar to that of the mother school.

The new facility will provide a home for 500 students studying at 6 departments – Department for Mass Communications, Department of Social Studies, Department of Philology, Department of Humanities, Department of Physical Education and Sport.

The new building includes 25 classrooms for lectures and tutorials, flexible learning environments, 3 language labs, a recording room, a radio and TV room, faculty and administrative offices, community gathering spaces, and food service.
