American lawyer Thomas Jersild started his lectures at KFU

Today, October 14, Kazan Federal University hosted a lecture of practicing lawyer Thomas Jersild  on company laws and corporate governance, including family and joint enterprises.

Tom Jersild is a well-known American lawyer from Chicago (USA). He is a retired partner of the international law firm Mayer Brown LLP. Since his retirement he has consulted and taught, largely on company law, capital markets law, investment law, and land law, in 32 countries in Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, Africa, the Arabian Gulf, Central and Southeast Asia, and the Caribbean. This work has included drafting of commercial laws throughout these areas and teaching in universities in former-Yugoslav countries, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia and Afghanistan.

“I know that a course of lectures at your university also covers the issues of corporate law, international investments, case study of international scandals,” said Tom Jersild and explained that his lecture would focus on real world problems and their solutions.

In fact, the skills building section scored a hit. Regina Vlasova, KFU postgraduate for international and European law who attended the lecture, shared her impressions: “The professor went deeply into the Russian legislation and enabled us to consider examples of corporate disputes and make our own decisions.”

Thomas Jersild will continue lecturing in Kazan Federal University.
