Kazan University and Wageningen University on the way to partnership

Today, September 9, Ilshat Gafurov, KFU Rector, met with Prof. Wim Heijman, Wageningen University (Netherlands).

The meeting was also attended by Linar Latypov, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Marat Safiullin, Vice-Rector for Economic and Strategic Development, Nailya Bagautdinova, Acting Director of KFU Institute of Management, Economics and Finance, Lilia Nurgatina, Director of Higher School of Public Administration, Lenar Safiullin, Deputy Director for Research of KFU Institute of Management, Economics and Finance.

Win Heijman is the Profesor of Regional Economics at Wageningen University, the chief editor of Abstract Journal of joint MBA programme in agro-industry and trade. Wageningen University occupies the 150th position in the general QS ranking and the 2nd position in agro-industry and forestry; its bioeconomics research centre is in world Top 10 in the sector.

The meeting organized to discuss action-oriented proposals of academic cooperation between universities started with a short presentation about the Kazan University. The attendees focused on prospects of joint master's degree programme in bioeconomics and biotechnologies management.

Ilsaht Gafurov specified that KFU was interested in cooperation in biotechnologies, waste water treatment technologies, and bioadditives producing. The Rector suggested inviting professors from    Wageningen University to lecture at KFU, organizing a remote course and semester studies for KFU students abroad. The parties agreed joint postgraduate programmes to be currently attractive.
