KFU and The Open University: future cooperation

This Thursday, August 28, The Open University delegation finished its visit to Kazan Federal University.

At the summing-up meeting the representatives of The Open University described in detail the structure of e-learning modules. The attendees discussed how these modules can be implemented at the Kazan University.

Dmitry Tayursky, the Director of the Institute of Physics, informed the guests that Russian legislation prohibited total e-learning in several subjects, including physics. However, he explained that the best way out was to include The Open University modules into existing educational programme of the Institute: "For each discipline we have some class hours and some hours for self-study, approximately 50/50. We are planning to use The Open University modules for self-study". According to Dmitry Tayursky, modules close to the contents of Kazan University educational programme have already been selected and will be launched on September 1.

The attendees discussed future cooperation and outlined joint activities. The cooperation agreement between KFU and The Open University is under approval.
