Minister of Education and Science of Russia meeting student community in Moscow

On June 11, Dmitry Livanov, Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, met with the All-Russian Labour Union for Education and the Office of the Student Coordination Council of the Russian Labour Union for Public Education and Science.

The participants of the meeting deliberate the organization and holding of joint All-Russian events of the Ministry of Education and Science and All-Russian Labour Union for Education for 2014, discussed their funding and approved the dates and regions to host the events. They spoke about the following All-Russian contests - “Student Leader”, “Best University Campus”,  and All-Russian educational schools “Stipkom-2014”, “Student Self-Governance Campus”, and science and practice conference “Student Labour Union Movement in Russia: dialogue with the government, rectors and community”.  

They touched upon the plans of the Ministry of Education and Science concerning the universities of the Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, and all arising questions related to the students of these universities. Thus, as a result of the discussion, it was agreed to consider the organization of a round table for this issue, rectors and heads of Crimean student labour unions attending the 1st stage of the All-Russian School “Stipkom-2014' in Yalta this July. Participants and approaches to the organization of the health resort treatment of orphaned children was discussed, in particular, the order of vouchers' funding was emphasized.  

Student Coordination Council of the Russian Labour Union for Public Education paid attention to the university funding of student allowances, and the necessity to develop regulatory documents for university campuses. Besides, the participants focused on the necessity to up­date the Procedure of conversion from paid education to free education. “Cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science is getting to a new level that shows the real state and the need for changes both in student life and education in general”, noted Vladimir Marchenko, the Chair of the Student Coordination Council of the Russian Labour Union for Public Education and Science.

The meeting was also attended by Galina Merkulova, the Chair of the All-Russian Union for Education, members of the Office of Student Coordination Council of the Russian Labour Union for Public Education and Science including Ramil Sadreev, the head of the department for youth politics, social issues and development of physical education and sport of Naberezhnye Chelny Branch of KFU.
