New European Union Program Horizon 2020 Presented in Kazan

On April, 25 Head of Office for Science and Technologies of the Representative Office of the European Union, Research and Innovation Counsellor Richard Burger visited KFU. He presented the program Horizon-2020 and told about the Year of Science Russia-EU 2014.

Russia has been collaborating with the European Union for a long time in the sphere of science. Richard Burger remarked that the both sides were leaders in research work and it was difficult to overestimate the mutual benefit of collaboration. Announcement of 2014 year to be the Year of Science Russia-EU again proves the importance of research and technological cooperation between Russia and EU. About 200 events are planned, they are devoted to specialized research issues and general problems of cooperation between Russia and European Union in the sphere of research and technologies.

Richard Burger gave a detailed overview of the Horizon-2020 program.       

Horizon-2020 is a new framework program for research and innovations established by the European Union. It is focused on world-class innovations and science development, overcoming barriers in their interaction, development of governmental and private collaboration in the sphere of science and innovations.   This program encapsulates all existing EU programs on financing research and innovations including RP7, Framework program for competitiveness and innovations as well as programs of the European Institute for Innovations and Technologies. The program budget is EURO 80 bln.

Russian organizations, including universities participating in consortiums, can take part in the grant program.
