Java Day Conference in Kazan

Today, on the 16th of April, a conference for Java Day developers was held in Kazan IT-park. Specialists from the largest IT-companies, such as Oracle, JetBrains, Digital Zone, JFrog, came to Kazan to take part in the second most important Java event (the first one is Java One).

The event was organised by FOSS Labs company with support of Higher School of Information Technologies and Information Systems of KFU and IT-park.

“Java 8”, “Java Embedded at your home”, “Meta-programming at compiler level in Groovy – demystification of work with abstract syntax tree”, “Streams for every day. Programming in Java 8 style”, “New technology support in IntelliJ IDEA 13.1, including Java 8 and Kotlin” – topics of conference papers presented were of interest for many people this year. According to organisers, quantity of registered conference participants broke all records. About 400 people attended Java Day 2014.

The Director of the Higher School of ITIS, Mr. Ayrat Khasyanov, opened the meeting. He welcomed participants and thanked them for interest in Java Day. Mr. Khasyanov was one of the initiators of Java Day in Kazan.

Java Day can be characterized as an “Intense hours-long IT-training”. The conference took the whole day, but even by the end of the day the audience hall was overcrowded: many people had note-books, and several speakers did some coding in real time. Thus Mr. Barukh Sadogurskiy, a developer from Israel, gave a master class in coding in Groovy. Lectures delivered by other participants were of a practical nature, as well.

In spite of a complex specificity a lot of students attended the conference, major part of them being students of the Higher School of ITIS. They know Java firsthand. Starting from the second year they have practical trainings in laboratories of the world’s leading IT-companies, which are located in the University, by the way. Nowadays over 20 centres of such a kind are functioning in the Institute, with laboratories of today’s conference participants, JetBrains and Digital Zone, being among them.

We dare to say that the forth Kazan Java Day was a success. Organisers have already got some ideas for the fifth conference, but we’ll tell you about them in 2015.
