Tatarstan and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have many opportunities for cooperation; however, they are not well developed yet. On April 15 this statement was announced by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov at his meeting with Zhang Chunxian, a member of Political Bureau of the Central Committee of Communist Party of China. The meeting took part in Urumqi, the administrative center of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region within the framework of the official visit of Tatarstan to China. Kazan Federal University is presented by the Vice-Rector for International Relations Linar Latypov.

Tatarstan President informed Zhang Chunxian about the development of cooperation between Tatarstan and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. In particular, Chinese CNCEC Corporation takes part in construction of Ammony plant in the Mendeelev region of Tatarstan. The parties exchange delegations on a regular basis. The delegation of business circles of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region will arrive in the Republic of Tatarstan in July.

The cooperation in science and education is very important for Tatarstan, too. As Tatarstan President mentioned, 42 students from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region study at the universities of Tatarstan (320 students from China). “I think that the student exchange is essential”, Rustam Minnikhanov declared.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked leadership of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region for comfortable conditions of living and keeping traditions and culture provided for Tatars.

 
“I am sure that our visit will give additional impetus to our cooperation. We will be glad to see you in Tatarstan”, Rustam Minnikhanov addressed to Zhang Chunxian.

According to Zhang Chunxian, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Tatarstan are both attractive for tourists. Furthermore, the regions should develop cooperation in humanitarian area.

At the end of the meeting in the presence of Rustam Minikhanov and Zhang Chunxian Kazan Federal University and Xinjiang University, Tatarstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Xinjiang Trade Promotion Committee signed agreements on cooperation.
