KFU Starts Cooperation with Paris West University Nanterre La Défense

Paris West University Nanterre La Défense became the partner of Kazan Federal University.

Development and implementation of joint academic programs of Kazan Federal University and Paris West University Nanterre La Défense were discussed in Paris. Kazan University was presented by Adel Abdullin, Head of Department of International and European Law.   

Paris West University Nanterre La Défense was founded in 1970 as one of the successors of University of Paris. The University has more than 33 000 students, 2 000 members of academic staff. It consists of 9 faculties, a number of research centers and laboratories and different cultural and social communities.  

Nicolas Sarkozy (President of France 2007-2012), Dominique de Villepin (Prime-Minister of France 2005-2007), Christine Lagarde (Head of International Monetary Fund) and other well-known politicians graduated from Paris West University Nanterre La Défense.

Among famous acting and former professors are Maurice Allais (Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics), Jean Baudrillard (philosopher-postmodernist), Paul Ricoeur (philosopher), etc. 

The university is renowned in the fields of Law and Economics.

Adel Abdullin announced that KFU Faculty of Law has initiated new international programs within the framework of KFU Program for Competitive Growth. In September 2013 the Department of International and European Law hosted an international conference which was attended by the representatives of Paris West University Nanterre La Défense who later invited KFU scholars to deliver lectures on international and European law to French Master’s students.

 

At present both universities discuss organization of exchange programs, summer and winter schools, edition of joint papers. KFU, Paris West University Nanterre La Défense, University of Potsdam and University of Hamburg have agreed to arrange an international conference Regionalism in International Law in September, 2014. It is also planned to publish a joint monograph on issues of access to public justice.
