Ball in Honour of the 115th Anniversary of Elabuga Institute

On the 19th of December a ball in honour of the 115th anniversary of Elabuga Institute of KFU was given in the marble hall of the city Culture Palace.

Preparation for this annual event took two months, including rehearsal held each morning and eagerly attended by students and teachers. It is the first year that this ball is held in the Culture Palace. The gala night was opened by the Director of the Institute, Ms. Elena Merzon, and the 5-year student of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Mr. Andrey Malygin, with a solo Polonaise dance. After that students and teachers danced “Flower Waltz”, “Polka”, “Quadrille”, “Acquaintance” waltz, “Pinpoints in the Glass”, “Jive” (the predecessor of the modern Rock-and-Roll), as well as “Rucheyok” (Rivulet) dance, with guests of the ball dancing it. The ball permitted to trace back the history of the Institute development and history of classical ball ethics.

The Director of the Institute and hostess of the ball, Ms. Elena Merzon, congratulated the audience with the 115th anniversary of Elabuga Institute and the forthcoming New Year and wished everyone happiness and love.

Celebration in honour of family dynasties with the period of service in the Institute over 100 year (Nutfullins (109 years) and Sabirovs (113 years)) was held during the ball today.

Winners of the contest among journalists were also announced during the festive event: exe­cuting editor of Vecher Elabugi (Elabuga Evening) newspaper, Ms. Anna Perfilyeva (“Active cooperation with Elabuga Institue of KFU” nomination), correspondent of Respublica Tatarstan newspaper, Ms. Marina Selskova (“The best coverage of activity of Elabuga Institute of KFU” nomination). Ms. Gulnaz Titova, a correspondent of “Elabuga News Service”, became the winner in “Student with eyes of the journalist” nomination.

Vice-Rector of KFU for Research, Mr. Danis Nurgaliev, also congratulated the guests.

Vienneze Waltz was the gala night concluding dance, in which the guests of the ball took part, as well.
